We are so pleased to announce that with the generous support of the Wednesbury Rotary Club, we have been able to select another outstanding student as our 2010 Scholar. Debbie will be studying nursing at Tomas Claudio College and we are sure she will do very well. A very ambitious young lady - at her interview she told us that her dream job was President of the Philippines!

As ever, we have given Debbie the chance to tell her story in her own words - we have not edited what follows at all (other than the removal of her address) - please remember that she is writing in her second language - remarkable.
i am debbie p. demen. a 16-year old girl who recently resides at ************ bombongan morong rizal..since i was in nursery, i started earning honors and awards from my school..places from quiz bees, contests and other competitions..i am not that patient and sometimes i feel lazy to study things which do not interest and challenge me..i love to observe and explore the amazing world of science..to experiment and do some research i love to solve mathematical equations (but mathematics is not that easy..sometimes it kills.. :) )people see me as a jolly and talkative person a very talkative fiend..but i cry easily (kinda spoiled)..i always look positively on life.. and like others i have mood swings too..
before,i dreamed of being a doctor.. to have my own hospital and discover medicines for incurable diseases like AIDS,HIV and cancer. i wanted to give medical assistance to those who cannot afford it...i even wanted to be the president of the philippines..i would send those street children to school.. build houses for them..open jobs for unemployed filipinos and make justice fair for all..i wish i could do that..(but that's far beyond my reach..something impossible..)but who knows right? --maybe someday.. disappointments and anxiety may come but i don't care..i may be weak on some things but i know i can excel on my fortes..in my own little way..
"WHATEVER YOU ARE, BE A GOOD ONE..".. my parents told me that i have to give up something good to earn something better.. i know that there's no shortcuts and easy way to get whatever i want.. some things are not really for me.. you cant have everything at the same time..and there's always a reason why.."SIGNATURE YOUR WORK WITH EXCELLENCE.." i believe that wherever life would take me.. i know that i can..cause it won be given if i cant handle it..
--"CELEBRATE LIFE.." thats what i believe..for god writes the best story for me in the book of life..:)
i am confused on what field to choose..engineering??? nursing????dentistry????
oh my..
and aces helped me a lot to be in the right field..when i heard about the scholarship, at first i didnt want to try because i thought there were better strudents who deserves it..until mr. seth barrameda asked me to join..i cant say no.. and besides nursing is one of my choices..it would be a great help for us too if i could have the scholarship..and fortunately..i do get it..i felt so comfortable to talk and share them some of my thoughts and background..i'm so happy that i was chosen to be the ACES scholar.. not only because it's a lot of help but also it makes me assured that im in good hands..
as of now i wish to see myself as a full pledged nurse.. hope i can be up to your expectations..:)
--tnx a lot..
We are expecting great things from Debbie - we know she will deliver.....
